I put my support socks on first thing in the morning to prevent swelling. If I don't wear them I see a definite increase in swelling. They are comfortable enough that I usually forget I am wearing them except when they occasionally (once or twice a day) band a little at the ankle. I can readjust the fit and continue wearing them. Because I have Ladies size 11 shoe I tried the men't size first. Unfortunately the legs were so long I had to fold the tops down. So, I ordered the Ladies size and find the length much better, but still long (I'm 5'7", not short). I find that if I am careful not to pull too much as I put the leg part on I can get it just the right length. I find the toes a little bit tight, though. So far it doesn't get uncomfortable in the toes every day. I had difficulty finding support sox that fit, stay up, look nice and do the job. THESE are what I was looking for.

I have very long toes for a size 12 foot, and an average size ankle. Unlike the Jobst compression stockings, the Dr. Leonards compression stockings have an expandable toe box - now my whole foot and ankle are comfortable. Between the ankle and knee, I found the Dr. Leonards compression stockings equally as comfortable as my [$] Jobst stockings. Because of the expandable toe box in the Dr. Leonards stockings, I can comfortably wear my compression stockings all day.The Jobst stockings my doctor prescribed did not have an expandable toe box. This results in compression of the toes, which becomes very painful after a few hours. The problem is that compression stockings are sized for the ankle circumference and the pattern makers have to guess an average foot size. By adding the expandable toe box, Dr Leonards stockings are able to accommodate a wider range of foot sizes

I bought these to try because swelling in my legs, feet and ankles has become a daily problem. I'd tried another brand from Dr. L's catalog and wasn't happy, but the exchange was easy and this alternate pair is perfect. I'm a secretary and sit a lot during the day, I don't get near enough exercise, and have had problems with swelling since I turned 50. These are very firm compression, but not too tight, and they definitely keep my swelling down. I have large calves and the XL fit well, but I turn down the top to give myself a wide band that doesn't cut circulation at the top of my calf. I liked them so well, I bought 3 more pair, and they are consistent in quality. I'll buy these again after I wear out the first ones.

I broke my hip was difficult to bend and found that your knee compression hose were easy to put on with the help of a device supplied by therapist
and now can easily put them on without the device.
The only problem I had was that one of the socks developed a run from the seam of the toe up. I sewed it up by hand and am still wearing that pair.
