I've used this everywhere, using whatever available. I put these behind my curtains, on double curtain rails in my master bedroom, on existing rails on the inside of two bedroom windows, and the TV room, on electrical conduit piping on two sliding glass doors and all along a Florida room, on tension rods etc. On the Florida room, I put the EMT piping on hooks, and I cut slots in the top of the curtain for the hooks to come through. The curtains are a shiny metallic thin plastic. The reflective surface (for the outside), is slightly shinier, and the seam (that the pole goes through), is on the inside. These curtains are not necessarily pretty, they are shiny like a car sunshade. I like them though. The sun is killing my electric bills, and these will make a difference. I can feel the difference immediately. I cut some slightly shorter for a short window and a couple of window ac units. I could not cool the Florida room before I got the curtains, because the room would actually get hotter once the windows were closed with the AC working overtime. Now my Florida room is staying cool, which makes it a lot more bearable, and is much better for my birds. I am doing everything I can, including using heat blocking curtains. My regular curtains and sheer curtains rotted, my carpets are totally faded. These curtains are wonderful for privacy during the day, and keeping the house cool. I will also glue them onto clear plastic (hurricane panels), that I installed in my skylights. I recommend these curtains as a very low cost, functional way to help cool your house. I am installing them on all windows.

These curtains cut down the heat drastically. My window a/c ran much less often. They are not easy to see through but the cooler room and money saved makes up for it.

They were inexpensive to buy and made cheaply. Never could figure out which side was for keeping heat out and which side was for keeping heat in. Not sure they helped much, but did block the light.
